What is Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)?

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) provides safe and reliable transportation for individuals who need assistance getting to and from medical appointments but do not require emergency ambulance services.

What services will Helping Hands of Aiken provide?

We plan to provide transportation for:

• Doctor's appointments

• Specialist visits

• Dialysis treatments

• Rehabilitation and physical therapy

• Outpatient procedures

• Hospital discharges

• Other medically necessary appointments

Do you provide wheelchair transportation?

Yes. Helping Hands of Aiken is being built around providing safe, wheelchair-accessible transportation for individuals who require a wheelchair during transport.

Do you provide stretcher transportation?

No. At this time, Helping Hands of Aiken will not provide stretcher transportation or emergency ambulance services.

Will you transport ambulatory passengers?

Yes. We plan to provide transportation for both ambulatory and wheelchair passengers.

What areas will you serve?

Our primary service area will include Aiken County and surrounding communities within the CSRA.

Transportation outside our primary service area may be available depending on availability.

Will you transport patients to dialysis?

Yes. We plan to provide transportation for recurring dialysis appointments as well as other scheduled medical visits.

Are you currently accepting ride requests?

Not at this time.

Helping Hands of Aiken is currently preparing for launch as we complete the final steps necessary to begin serving our community.

Will you accept Medicaid or ModivCare transportation?

Helping Hands of Aiken intends to pursue partnerships with transportation brokers, including ModivCare, as the business grows. Additional information will be announced as it becomes available.

Can a family member or caregiver ride with the passenger?

When space permits and it is appropriate for the passenger's care, one caregiver or family member may be able to accompany the passenger. Additional details will be available once services begin.

How far in advance should transportation be scheduled?

Once operations begin, we recommend scheduling transportation as early as possible to ensure availability.

Helping Hands of Aiken is currently in the final stages of preparing for launch. We are actively working toward acquiring our first wheelchair-accessible vehicle, completing all required licensing and insurance requirements, and building a transportation service our community can trust.
